Who I am
I think beyond the status quo – and act on it.
From CTO of a sustainable packaging innovation to project management in industry: I drive change in the sectors that need it most. What I bring is a decision-maker’s perspective – someone who knows what transformation really costs.
This is a private website. What you read here is my personal view and not a statement on behalf of my employer.
Why artificial intelligence
To me, artificial intelligence is valuable when it serves people. When it saves someone an hour of work, improves a decision, or makes something possible that used to fail because of the effort involved. Everything else is just an announcement.
That is why I am less interested in what a model can do in the lab than in what remains of it under real conditions: with incomplete data, with people who have no time for yet another tool, with budgets that were allocated long ago. That is where it is decided whether a technology turns into real benefit – not in the presentation.
In practice
The best way to learn this is to build it yourself. This house runs its own server, on which I have spent years testing what automation and AI actually achieve in everyday life: measuring energy and consumption instead of estimating it, handing off recurring chores, running analyses where the data is created – in your own home rather than in someone else’s hands.
Much of it is unspectacular, and that is exactly why it is instructive. Anyone who keeps a system running for months quickly notices which part of a nice idea does not survive maintenance. That experience is worth more to me than any metric from a product launch.
IAKI
I am a member of IAKI – Institut für angewandte Künstliche Intelligenz (Institute for Applied Artificial Intelligence), a non-profit association based in Vorarlberg, Austria. The association researches and implements economic and social projects around artificial intelligence and sees itself as a bridge between technology and society.
