In brief

This website sets no cookies, does not embed external fonts, maps, videos or any other third-party content, and does not pass on the data generated when pages are accessed to third parties. There is no contact form, and no sign-in takes place on this website itself; if you would like to write to me, please send an email (see the separate section below). A small script of my own measures how long a page is viewed (audience measurement without cookies, see below); apart from that, only the technical data that inevitably arises when a page is accessed is processed.

Server logs

When a page is accessed, the web server records: IP address, date and time, requested address, status code, amount of data transferred, browser identifier (user agent) and the country, which is determined from the IP address using a locally stored database. Referring pages (referrer) and cookie contents are not logged.

• Purpose: delivering the website and detecting and defending against automated attacks.
• Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in secure and trouble-free operation.
• Retention: 14 days, after which the logs are deleted automatically.
• Attack defence: conspicuous addresses are blocked temporarily. Only the IP address is stored for this purpose.

Language selection

This website is available in German and English. When you open the home page, you are forwarded to the matching version based on the language set in your browser (Accept-Language) and – if that names neither German nor English – on the country determined from your IP address. The web server evaluates both only at the moment of the request; nothing additional is stored for this purpose and no cookie is set. You can switch versions at any time using the language button. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest lies in offering visitors the website in a language they understand.

Audience measurement

A script loaded by this website itself (not a third-party provider) reports to my own server when a page was opened, how long it was visible, how far it was scrolled, the domain of the referring website (if any), screen size, browser language, as well as country, device type and browser family. The IP address is not stored: together with the browser identifier and a random value that changes daily, it is used to form an identifier that stays the same for that day only and can no longer be linked to anyone afterwards. Recognition across several days is therefore not possible; no user profile is created.

• Purpose: understanding which content is read and for how long.
• Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in assessing and improving my own content; the measurement works without cookies and without any personal reference beyond the day.
• Storage: exclusively on my own server in Austria. Visit data with the daily identifier is deleted after 13 months; figures without personal reference are kept as a time series.
• Objection: if your browser sends the Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, no measurement takes place. Independently of this, you can object to the processing at any time by contacting the controller (Art. 21 GDPR).

Contact by email

If you write to me, I process your message, including the sender address and any information you provide in it, solely in order to reply to you.

• Purpose: handling and answering your enquiry.
• Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in being able to reply to a message addressed to me.
• Retention: as long as the matter requires; the message is deleted afterwards.
• Mailbox: the mailbox used is a Gmail account, operated by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA; such transfers are based on the European Commission’s adequacy decision on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework of 10 July 2023.
• Note: an unencrypted email can be read in transit. Please do not send me particularly sensitive data this way.

Cookies

This website sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. It therefore requires neither a cookie notice nor consent (§ 165 (3) Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021, TKG 2021). Non-public services requiring sign-in are also operated under the same domain; their session cookie is strictly necessary for the sign-in requested in each case, is neither read nor logged by this website, and likewise does not require consent.

Hosting

The website runs on a private server in the controller’s home in Austria. For the operation of this website there is no processor, no disclosure to third parties and no transfer to a third country; the connection is encrypted with TLS. The only exception is messages you send me by email — see the section “Contact by email”.

Links to other websites

This website links to iaki.at and LinkedIn. Data is only transferred to the respective provider once you click such a link; their privacy policies apply there.

Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). Please contact the controller named above.

No automated decision-making

No automated decision-making or profiling takes place. You are not obliged to provide any data; the log data mentioned above arises technically when a page is accessed.
